The following reference intervals approximate to the 95% confidence limits of levels observed in healthy individuals, unless otherwise specified. Test results are dependent on variables in specimen collection and the method used. Although most laboratory methods are now standardised, inter-laboratory differences may still occur. Individual results should be assessed using the reference intervals quoted by the pathology laboratory performing the test. If any doubt exists, the results should be discussed with the pathologist.
